Community Involvement

As a community bank, part of our philosophy is to give back locally by supporting the efforts of those providing resources to those in need, enhancing and providing access to arts and culture, improving the environment, and more. As we strive to create a community-minded organization, First State Bank has incorporated this philosophy to guide everything we do. At First State Bank, we believe in investing in our communities through loans to businesses and consumers, through sponsorships and donations that emphasize human needs and education, and through volunteering.

Get Involved: G.H.O.S.T.

We’re taking a stand against Human Trafficking. We invite you to join us on our mission to raise awareness. Here’s how:

Empower yourself:

First State Bank, in partnership with the Genesee County Sheriff's Office (GCSO), supports making G.H.O.S.T Certification available to its team members. The Genesee Human Oppression Strike Team is a law enforcement initiative working to protect our communities from the threat of sexual predators and fight against sex trafficking.

G.H.O.S.T.'s certification program is also being adopted nationwide as a model for combatting these crimes and utilizes a multidisciplinary approach combining multiple law enforcement agencies with community support teams and medical personnel. As part of our ongoing commitment, we encourage our partners, customers, and neighbors to engage with this no-cost training to get informed and help combat this growing crime. To learn more or to get G.H.O.S.T certified, visit the GCSO website.

Support Business:

We’ve also partnered with RingTrueCO, makers of ethically made jewelry, to raise awareness and support the employment of trafficking survivors. We’ll be gifting their goods at women’s focused events. To learn more about their mission or how to purchase their products, visit: https://ringtrueco.com/

Make your mark:

Spread the word about how others in our community can step up and make a difference. Check out this message from our CEO, Mark Jansen:
