History

There’s a reason we’ve been around 100+ years. And we’re here to stay.

The best communities build on their history to support their strengths and passion to advance their cause. First State Bank is no different. For over 100 years, our flexibility has allowed us to adapt to all of the changes that have come our way while hanging on to the values that separate us from other banks.

Expanding our Community

There's no place like home - and for over nine decades, First State Bank has found a home in Macomb and Oakland Counties, servicing our customers and the community with eleven branches. We're locally owned and operated, which means that we're able to deliver services that are crafted to meet the needs of our neighbors and that decisions are made locally. And because this is where we're rooted, it means that as deposits grow, we're able to reinvest in our community.

Where We Began

Home was the corner of 9 Mile and Gratiot when we first opened in 1917 - we were known as Halfway State Bank, the first bank in the village of Halfway (you now know it as Eastpointe). We wouldn't become First State Bank for another twelve years - we changed our name in 1929. A lot has happened in the last century - and Macomb County has overcome any obstacles in its path and it has grown into the third largest county in the state. As our county has found growth - so have we.

What Lies Ahead

We believe in our hometown and First State Bank will continue to support the growth of the Macomb community by providing innovative banking products and services and friendly and caring customer service. We are committed to remaining active and engaged within our community and promote a corporate culture of community involvement among our employees.

First State Bank strives to keep growing and to achieve success which allows us to continue doing more for the businesses and families right here in our hometown.
