Leadership Macomb Program

Since 1996 over 1,400 leaders from numerous organizations and diverse backgrounds have graduated from the Leadership Macomb program. The 10-month program introduces participants to the assets, issues, and leaders in Macomb County, and creates long-lasting business relationships leading to a stronger community.  Cohorts start in September and end in June.  During this time, participants meet 10 times to learn about the different systems that make up the County.  Over the ten sessions, participants visit about 28 locations, and hear from over 115 professional speakers and panelists. Because of the information and connections, the program offers, Graduates increase their value to their employers, their networks, and their communities.

First State Bank is pleased to offer the Small Business Leadership Scholarship for one small business employee to attend the Leadership Macomb Program. Applications are being accepted through June 1, 2025, and the winner will be notified by mid June 2025. The program tuition value is $3,600 and will be paid by First State Bank on the participant’s behalf.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Work for a small business (1 – 75 employees) based in Macomb or Oakland County. Business must have been in operation for at least three years.
  • Serves in a leadership role at work.
  • Must be able to participate and commit to the program.
  • Applicant agrees to be featured (themselves and their business) on social media by First State Bank or Leadership Macomb.
